Sledding will be fun!

We decided that Black Friday was as good as any day to go sledding without a crowd so we headed to the big hill at Sugarhouse park. It has just snowed 2 days before so we thought the snow would still be soft... WRONG! ... it was pretty icy! I got all the boys ready and they headed on up the hill, by the time I had gotten myself ready they had all gone down the hill once. And loved it
All my boys at the top of the big hill - looked pretty intimidating from where I was standing watching my boys coming at me on a piece of plastic.

Here is Bryson heading down the hill and Preston heading back up the hill. It was looking to be a fun outing and afternoon, until...

He hit a bump and off he went tumbling over and over.

Keep in mind my camera can take like 4 pics in a second so, no I wasn't just snapping photos of him hurting... I ran over just as this nice couple did. He was crying and was done. He had come right down on an ice ball as you can see in the picture were in plethora. I looked at his hip later that evening and he had quite a bruise. Poor guy.

Darren took Weston down the big hill and he loved it!

They got going pretty fast and the snow was flying with Darren's boots hitting the ground

Weston and Daddy walking away from the fun slide like champions

Preston coming down the hill - he was going so fast! And wanted to go all alone

Preston slid all the way to the hay bail barriers - he loved it!

Weston being a big boy and going down all alone... he took of with the sled and headed up the hill alone. So we followed him up about 15 feet and put him on it to go down alone. No he didn't go down the entire hill... are you crazy!

Two seconds after I took the picture of him going down the hill, he biffs it and flips off.... Thank goodness for helmets

Weston with Daddy crying - he hit his cheek and had a little scrap, the snow was so icy and had chips of hard ice all over
Preston going down the other hill
Darren catching Preston so he doesn't slide over the street and into the pond -

Bryson putting on his grumpy face so he didn't have to go down again
Weston not wanting to go again either...

When Darren caught Preston, the stop hurt him a bit so he was done after that, to sum it all up about 5 rides down the hill, all three boys have now been hurt and are/were crying... we are done and packing up. Next time we will find a hill that has soft snow and a flat bottom. That is if we can get them to go again!

Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving - we started the day out early with some Wii time while I finished up my 12 layer Jell-O a Katrina tradition. We then headed over to a lunch time Thanksgiving at Darren's parents home - it was at this point that I realized that I had forgotten my camera... ugh! Lunch was nice and we had most of the family there which was also a real nice surprise for his parents. We stayed around for a bit after the clean up and then headed up to my parents for a dinner. Yes that is a lot of food. Dinner was quiet, only my family and Kari's family were able to come this year - but still it was a nice evening.

The boys relaxing the morning away with some Wii time.

Red Jell-O that will be my last layer once it is cooled.

6 layers down and only 4 more to go - I could not find purple Jell-O anywhere... in fact my neighbor saved me with a package of blue since I could not find that color either.
My Mom and her cute veggie animals!

My Mom's beautiful table - man I wish I had remembered my good camera

Darren's dinner - again, not a good camera on my blackberry

If Olives can go on fingers - why can't raspberries?
I am so very grateful for a wonderful family, on both sides. I am grateful to be a Mommy to three amazing boys and to have an amazing Hubby. Happy Thanksgiving

First Snow Storm

This is the first storm that at least I call - a storm has to be significant enough for the kids to get bundled up and the snow blower to come out - the forecasters stated the valleys would get about 4-6" well, when we woke up there was a foot in our yard! It was a Sunday morning, but that kind of excitement in our children is hard to contain till after school Monday - so... out they went to shovel walks and play in the snow. They were outside for about 2 hours and seriously had such a good time - they didn't want to come inside.

Bryson making his way

Preston and Weston - Preston was so excited that the snow was over his knees

Bryson and Preston "help" Dad with the shoveling of the walk - really what they do is either A. go behind him and get what the blower left or B. walk to the middle of fresh snow on the driveway and pick it up... like your digging a hole in the dirt. Either way they love it.

Preston sitting in the snow - loving how deep it is

Weston - he was keeping up and watching his brothers every move as to how and what I am supposed to do in this huge snow suit.

Daddy plowing

My Preston - he could stay outside all day before he would complain about it

That dark speck is Preston, he laid down and that is all I could see of him

Of course in his studies Weston saw his brothers shoveling - so off he went to get his shovel and help too. However his idea of helping is shoveling (knocking) the snow that is on the side of the walks/driveway back onto the clear ground.

This is Bryson's snowman - it was about 15" tall :)

And of course - the best part ever about the roads being covered with snow... the 4-Wheeler!!! The boys love this and have a blast riding behind in it. I think my kids (and the Parker's down the street) are the only kids who get upset when the plows come through our neighborhoods... I mean upset! But for now, they are contently enjoying the ride

Our neighbors daughter jumped in as well for a quick ride

There was so much snow in the sled when they returned - the plows had not even slightly come out yet.

Even Tuff joined Darren for a ride around - but he is a pansy and jumped off in about 10 feet

Our backyard - after the boys had gotten through it.
The storm went all day long - By the time we got back home from Church at 4:30 the drive had another 6" on it... so back to plowing we went and taking care of our neighbors who didn't have a plow and hadn't been out yet. Bring on Winter - I am excited!

Pine Wood Derby!!!

Another first! Pine Wood Derby... Bryson and Darren sat on the computer and looked up several designs and styles of cars and finally selected one Bry liked. Darren got it cut out and Bryson wanted to have it Blue and Black. We then went to Toys r Us to find a spoiler and engine that just had to be on it. Then we needed glue, paint, oil, weights - this $5 car ended up costing us about $40... AND I think this event is more for the Dads then for any of the boys :) But Bryson was happy about his car and excited to go. They had such a good turn out 16 out of 20 scouts. Not bad!

Bryson and his Car of 2010 - Sonic the Car

Preston and Weston loving each other!

Bryson lining up his car on lane 4 for the first round of his race

On your mark, get set, GO!

There it is #1... way to go Bry!

Watching the other races

Bry and Weston watching the race

Lining up for round 2 of the race. We tried to get him to go in lane 2 - that lane seemed to always be winning. He got in lane 3

He came in 3rd on this one and they were advancing the top two cars of each race

Here is Bryson getting his patch for participating! As you can see his brothers wanted to be part of the action. I am so proud of how well he did!
