Easter 2011

We had a great Easter this year... I am sad to say that this was the first year that we dyed Easter Eggs - how horrible am I? I just don't like messes like that, which results in my kids missing out on things. It was one of my resolutions to do better with this year - SO... we dyed Easter Eggs and it was not as bad as I thought it would be.
I love this holiday, it give me a great opportunity to teach my boys about the Savior and his life and death for us. I love the spirit and excitement that fills the home all day long. I love the warm weather, the fresh air and sunshine. I love new Sunday cloths and pastel colors. And even more I love that it means Summer is on it's way!

The Easter bunny hopped on by the Steck home, just as the boys had wanted him to. He hide baskets and goodies all around. The boys were so excited to wake up to that.

I tried hard to get a happy pic of the three of them - but Weston was tired and the sun was so bright that keeping our eyes open was a challenge

Bryson - 8 years old... he is such a help in our house
Weston - 3 years old - he is our joy
Preston - 6 years old - he keeps us all on our feet

Grandma/pa Steck got the boys a whole bag full of goodies...

One item was this punch balloon that was a duck - it was pretty creepy - but really funny to watch Darren blow it up.

The boys had so much fun with it and took turns - it popped about 10 minutes later... :(

Got Sleepy Weston?

Weston is in this stage lately that he falls asleep when he is ready and just drops. This is what I mean... He was eating a snack and watching TV and I looked back over and this is how he was...

I don't know how he can sleep like this, but he was out cold.

The Tuff Show...

Left over breakfast always goes to the dogs - today since it was snowing Darren let the dogs come in for a bit. Then he gave Tuff a sausage link... he has done this plenty of times before, but I never take pics of it...

Darren telling him 'no- wait'
It looks like he has a cigar in his mouth - the focus in his eyes it so fun to watch, he knows he has to listen to Darren.
"Okay" and down it goes in one chomp
Little Taz - he has learned that he needs to stay on the rug or he'll go outside, he is smarter then we think.

April Snow

SNOW - RAIN - SNOW - that was the month of April here in Utah. One of the local news stations said that of the 30 days in April 28 of them were wet... ridiculous! What was more ridiculous was the snow. The weekend before the snow hit, Darren and I had cleaned out the garage and put up all the snow stuff and took down the spring stuff. Naturally, the boys wanted to play outside, but all their snow cloths were up in the attic. So we improvised with spring gloves and their jackets. Spring Utah snow is super wet so we didn't have them stay out very long.
Crazy weather made for a fun Winter day especially on conference when we didn't have to rush out to get to church on time
Doesn't look like very much - but we got about 8" of snow for April that's a big storm.
The backyard - just a week ago ready for spring.. now, not so much
Bryson tried to ride his bike - but said it was very slippery
Weston loving that he got to play outside too
Trying to warm up in the garage
I was really taking a picture of our swing - the storm finished off the canopy - time to make a new one.
Look at Bryson's hands, up his coat cus they are soo cold
Preston - I think he stayed outside till he was frozen
I love cotton gloves for spring time - for winter, not so much
Darren and the dogs, they were so confused about things
Our swing set... now a winter fort

Conference = Cookies

Every conference Saturday when Darren attend the Priesthood session of conference - I try to bond with my boys. Knowing in the back of my head that soon this night will just be me and all my boys will be with their Dad - as well the should be - but still it makes me want to make the most of the 11 years I have them home with me.
For April conference we always make Easter theme cookies... I still need to figure out how to make those thick soft sugar cookies - but until then my 'ok' ranked cookies will do.
Getting set to frost everything
It isn't frosting if you don't taste at least half of the container :)
Such a fun night - I enjoy these two Saturday's every year...
