Tuesday - Barbados

Prior to arriving at Barbados I always thought of this island as the place where the "rich and famous" go to vacation and build there 3rd or 5th house. So I had always imagined this island as being very clean and full of nice homes and a nice city. I was wrong, the city is clean but it is very run down. With the humidity paint on the building looks old fast. The homes are packed in tightly and their poverty is high. Mainly due to the rich people coming in and building their large homes. This island is rich verses poor and segregated in area's as well. We saw it all, and the island is beautiful. Their beaches and views are so pretty, to them it is what their life is, to us it is amazing. But then my backyard is a tourist attraction and I don't hardly notice it.
We got off the boat and didn't know if we should rent a car, scooter or take a taxi. We finalized on a taxi and we got told to follow "those guys" so we did and they worked out a deal to tour the island. At first Darren and I didn't want to go with a group, but then we looked at saving money and decided to try a group today. "those guys" ended up being Kim, Flora and Sam - who are amazingly honest, trustworthy and down to earth people. We had a great time with them and a great time on the island.

I did not like waking up at 5:30 - wanted to sleep for another 2 hours - we were trying for sunrise #2 got up in time to watch it, went to take pictures and the humidity had got to our camera and we couldn't take a single picture. This really is not working out for us.

And old pavilion, the taxi driver told us what it was but I was too busy looking at the beach scenery.
This is a marker where a place crashed off the short and everyone lost their lives. Really sad.

Darren and I at our first beach of the day!

Ricky Martins home - nice!

Tom Selleck's home

The oldest church on the island

Front of the church

Inside the church, it is really pretty

This didn't turn out so well, but their organ pipes hand from the ceiling

Some of the richie richie homes

Darren and I at the highest point on the island. That is the Atlantic Ocean behind us.

Darren at the Atlantic Ocean side of the island

More of the Atlantic - so pretty. This side of the island is always windy

Another view

Darren and I at a stopping post on our way back to the Caribbean Sea side

This is a monkey that they had at the stopping post. It was sad cus they had it on a rope that had rubbed all the hair off his back :(

This picture is for my mom, she has a rock in her front yard that say the same thing

My first picture of the ship, we didn't get a chance to have our camera out when we arrived.

Leaving Barbados, the island view wasn't much from port. But within the island it really is a pretty place to see.

You know that your one a HUGE boat when a freight liner is below you and small looking

The sunsets are always so pretty, we came in off the island, showered and then ran up to see us leave port. Don't we look cute.

Sunset, we wanted to see the sun hit the horizon but the clouds would never cooperate
I didn't get a picture of our towel animal tonight, but we finally came to the conclusion that it was a scorpion. We caught the end of the ‘show’ tonight, which was a song/dance group with a Las Vegas theme. The last 2 numbers was enough for me… not really my cup of tea. We then went back to the room with the intent to have an early bed time, but instead decided we were still hungry and went to Johnny Rockets for a late night bite, which was a bit too much but was really good. Gotta love a cruise when you can eat a burger at 10:30 at night. Who needs an eating plan? Barbados was a beautiful island, we really enjoyed it.
